Synopsis

Three programmes follow celebrities as they learn about other people's religions. Hardeep Singh Kohli goes to Moscow to explore the secrets of Scientology, Peaches Geldof visits Morocco to experience Islam and Paul Nicholls studies Hinduism at the feet of gurus in India.

Programme 1: The Beginner's Guide to L Ron Hubbard
Comedian and writer Hardeep Singh Kohli tries to find spiritual enlightenment through the teachings of L Ron Hubbard. Rejected by the Church of Scientology, Hardeep finds a warmer welcome with Ron's Org, an unauthorised splinter group who split from the Church in the 1980s.
Programme 2: The Beginner's Guide to Islam
Peaches Geldof travels to Morocco to explore Islam. Staying with a devout Muslim family, she attends a Taking the Veil party, travels up the Atlas mountains by mule to expel her bad jinn and turns squeamish at the sacrifice of a sheep.
Programme 3: The Beginner's Guide to Hinduism
Actor Paul Nicholls travels to India to explore the Hindu religion. In the sacred town of Rishikesh, he meets spiritual teacher Pujya Swamiji, who introduces him to the 330 million gods of Hinduism.
